Applying for the EIN

Registering with Louisiana Department of Revenue

An LLC that elects C corporation tax treatment for federal purposes also files Louisiana corporation income tax returns; the state's franchise tax on LLCs has been repealed, so a standard pass-through LLC does not owe it, but confirm current treatment for a C-Corp election on the Department of Revenue's site since corporate tax rules are set separately from the franchise tax repeal.

Registering as an employer

If you hire employees in Louisiana, register with Louisiana Workforce Commission for state unemployment insurance in addition to your Department of Revenue withholding registration. Both are separate from the EIN and from the Secretary of State filing.
