Appoint your Missouri registered agent
Missouri law requires every LLC to continuously maintain a registered office and a registered agent in the state, so there is always a known place to deliver legal papers.
Who can act as agent
The agent is either an individual who is a Missouri resident or an entity authorized to do business in Missouri, at a physical Missouri street address that matches the registered office. A PO box on its own does not satisfy the requirement.
Changing the agent
If the registered office or agent changes, the LLC files a statement of change with the Secretary of State. The agent can also resign by filing directly, which then puts the obligation back on the LLC to name a replacement.
Because the registered address is on the public record, many owners who work from home use a commercial registered agent for privacy.
