Appoint your South Carolina registered agent
South Carolina LLCs must continuously keep a registered agent and registered office on file. Because there is no annual report to refresh that information automatically, an outdated agent listing can sit uncorrected for years unless you update it yourself.
Who can serve
The registered agent can be an individual South Carolina resident, or a domestic or foreign corporation, LLC or other entity authorized to do business in South Carolina. The registered office must be a physical street address in the state where the agent can be reached during business hours; a post office box alone is not sufficient.
Why it matters more here
In states with an annual report, the registered agent's details get reviewed and corrected at least once a year almost by default.
