Choosing a state and a name
Nonprofits almost always incorporate in the state where they actually operate and fundraise.
Why the home state
Charitable solicitation registration, state tax exemption and grant eligibility are generally tied to the state where you work. Incorporating elsewhere adds a foreign registration and a second set of filings without a matching benefit.
Naming
Names must be distinguishable on the state register, and some states require or restrict certain words. Check the state register, then federal trademarks, then the domain.
