Oklahoma lesson 2 of 6

Appoint your Oklahoma registered agent

Every Oklahoma LLC must continuously maintain a registered agent and registered office in the state for as long as the LLC exists.

Who can serve

The registered agent can be the LLC itself, an individual resident of Oklahoma, or a domestic or qualified foreign corporation, LLC, or limited partnership. The registered agent must maintain a business office identical to the registered office, open during regular business hours to accept service of process.

The registered office address

The registered office must be a street address; a P.O. box is not acceptable. This address is public and is where service of process, official notices, and the Secretary of State's correspondence will be delivered.

Because the annual certificate notice goes to the LLC's email address rather than the registered agent's mailing address, keep both current so neither the agent nor the annual filing gets missed.

Key takeaways

  • The registered agent can be the LLC itself, an Oklahoma resident, or a qualified business entity.
  • The registered office must be a street address, not a P.O. box.
  • The agent's office must be open during regular business hours to accept service of process.
