Name your Arizona LLC
The Arizona Corporation Commission will reject Articles of Organization if the name is not distinguishable from an entity already on its register, so check first rather than after you have paid the $50 fee.
Required wording
An Arizona LLC name must contain Limited Liability Company, LLC or L.L.C. A professional limited liability company instead uses Professional Limited Liability Company, PLLC or PLC.
- Acceptable: Desert Peak Consulting LLC, Desert Peak Consulting L.L.C.
- Not acceptable: wording implying a bank, trust or government agency without the relevant approval
- Restricted words such as bank and trust need sign-off from the regulator that oversees them
Checking availability
Search the Commission's entity database before filing. Arizona applies a distinguishable name standard, so punctuation, spacing and adding a designator alone usually will not make two names different enough. If you are not ready to file, a name reservation costs $10 and is handled through the Commission's standard processing.
A trade name that differs from the LLC's registered name is registered separately with the Arizona Secretary of State as a trade name, not with the Corporation Commission.
