Appoint your Nevada registered agent
Nevada adopted the Model Registered Agents Act, found in Chapter 77 of the Nevada Revised Statutes. Every LLC must continuously maintain a registered agent with a physical Nevada address.
Who can act as agent
The agent can be a Nevada resident individual, a Nevada entity authorised to act as agent, or a commercial registered agent that has registered with the Secretary of State under Chapter 77. In every case the agent needs a physical street address in Nevada; a PO box alone is not enough.
Why so many Nevada LLCs use a commercial agent
Nevada's privacy reputation depends partly on this choice. Members are not named in the Articles of Organization, and using a commercial registered agent keeps a business address, rather than an owner's home, on the public record.
The agent's address is used for service of process and for state correspondence, including notices about the annual list and business licence renewal. An agent who does not forward mail promptly can cost you a deadline.
