Wyoming lesson 4 of 6
File the Articles of Organization
Wyoming's formation document is the Articles of Organization, filed with the Business Division of the Secretary of State. The fee on the official schedule effective 1 July 2026 is $100 for a domestic LLC.
What the filing includes
The Articles set out the LLC name, the registered agent and registered office in Wyoming with the agent's signed consent to appointment, a mailing address for the company, a principal office address, and the organiser's details. Members are not required to be listed, which is why Wyoming is often described as offering a degree of privacy at the state level.
- Online filing through WyoBiz is the fastest route
- Paper filings go to the Business Division in Cheyenne
- Series LLC designations cost $10 per series
Fees and turnaround
Budget $100 for the domestic Articles of Organization. Wyoming publishes its full fee schedule as a PDF and revises it, so confirm the current figure there rather than relying on an older article. Online filings are generally processed quickly, often within a few business days, but Wyoming does not advertise a formal guaranteed expedite tier the way California and New York do.
Certificates of good standing are free from WyoBiz, so do not pay a third party for one.
Straight after approval
Adopt an operating agreement, apply for your EIN, open a bank account, and diary your first annual report for the first day of your anniversary month next year.
Key takeaways
- Domestic Articles of Organization are $100 on the current fee schedule.
- The agent's consent to appointment is part of the filing.
- Good standing certificates are free through WyoBiz.
