Appoint your Georgia registered agent
Every Georgia LLC must continuously maintain a registered agent and registered office in the state under the Georgia Limited Liability Company Act.
The address requirement
The registered office must be a street address in Georgia where the registered agent can be served with legal papers. A PO box, post office drawer, mail drop or rural route box alone does not satisfy the requirement. The office does not have to be a place where the LLC actually does business.
Who can act as agent
The agent can be an individual who lives in Georgia, a Georgia entity, or a foreign entity authorised to do business in the state. Owners commonly act as their own agent when they have a suitable Georgia address, or they appoint a commercial registered agent for privacy or reliability.
The registered agent's address is public record. If service is delivered there and ignored, the LLC can be found in default even if nobody actually saw the paperwork.
